Τι Είναι το Μελάνι Τατουάζ;
Τα tattoo inks αποτελούνται από χρωστικές ουσίες σε συνδυασμό με έκδοχα ή διαλύτες. Οι χρωστικές προσδίδουν το χρώμα στο τατουάζ, ενώ το έκδοχο διευκολύνει την εφαρμογή του μελανιού στο δέρμα.
Σε αντίθεση με τη δημοφιλή άποψη, τα μόνιμα μελάνια τατουάζ δεν περιλαμβάνουν φυτικές χρωστικές – βασίζονται κυρίως σε μεταλλικά άλατα. Η σωστή επιλογή και εφαρμογή αυτών των μελανιών είναι αποκλειστικά αρμοδιότητα επαγγελματιών tattoo artists.
Ασφάλεια και Κανονισμοί REACH
Από τις αρχές του 2022, ισχύει η ευρωπαϊκή οδηγία REACH για τα μελάνια τατουάζ. Ο ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) υποχρεώνει τους κατασκευαστές να αφαιρέσουν περίπου 4.000 χημικές ενώσεις, πολλές από τις οποίες χαρακτηρίζονται:
Καρκινογόνες
Μεταλλαξιογόνες
Αλλεργιογόνες
Ερεθιστικές για το δέρμα ή τα μάτια
Ανάμεσα στις απαγορευμένες ουσίες περιλαμβάνονται αζωτούχες ενώσεις, πολυκυκλικοί υδρογονάνθρακες, μεθανόλη και άλλα επιβλαβή άλατα.
Από 4/1/2022, όλα τα μελάνια τατουάζ που κυκλοφορούν στην Ε.Ε. πρέπει να φέρουν σαφή επισήμανση των συστατικών τους στη συσκευασία. Το μπλε και πράσινο χρώμα είχαν παράταση συμμόρφωσης έως 4/1/2023.
